Sidney Charles

🚧 bumpy lisbon house

born in hamburg, years in berlin, and based in portugal now, where resident advisor says he has room to surf and think. his bio there gives the sound a name people actually use, the sidney sound: heavy low ends, chunky drums, cavernous low frequencies and rhythms aimed at the body rather than the head.

the Ruffline ep on 8bit in august 2013 is where the wider audience arrived, and in november 2019 he started Heavy House Society, opening it with barem's Hollow. the label has since become a touring brand as well as a catalogue, with showcases in ibiza and newcastle this autumn.

I sampled quite a few bits for my tune on HHS. Normally when I get to the studio I always first get through some very old records and see what I could use in some of my tracks.

the last fifteen months have been the busiest stretch of his career. the Let's Pardey ep with kolter and theo nasa in may 2025, the 2025 warp mix of Trip Advisor (Rhythm, Snare, Bass) with BUGS in august, which is now his most played track, the Take It Back ep in november, then On My Mind in february 2026, his first for Chris Stussy's up the stuss, the Face Your Fear ep on insomniac's factory 93 in march, and the Bass Rider ep in may.

ibiza is where to find him this summer. three pyramid nights at amnesia, on 9 august, 16 august back to back with mar-t, and 6 september. before that he plays the forest stage at creamfields on saturday 29 august with Omar+, and he brings heavy house society to the warehouse project in manchester on 3 october.
